| - At this point, the Napanee River watershed is in good environmental shape but this could be at risk if extensive development along the riparian zone continues at a fast rate with insufficient concern for environmental concerns, including sightline or view, noise and light pollution, as well as simply overtaxing the ability of the watershed to absorb many more homes, wells, and septic systems. While there are regulations in place, many including Provincial Acts and Regulations can be superceded. In addition, there are potential concerns about the threat from extensive quarry operations in the watershed which can be given high priority by the provincial government through the Aggregates Act. |
