Kennebec Wilderness Trails Located on a 156-acre tract of public parkland owned by the Township of Central Frontenac, the Kennebec Wilderness Trails offer four seasons of outdoor recreational activity hiking, birding, snow- shoeing. The trail network consists of over 7 kilometers of hiking trails winding through a mixed forest of deciduous and coniferous trees. The valley meadows, wooded hillsides and rocky ridges are home to an abundance of wildlife. The terrain is rugged and undulating in many areas, offering a challenging hike for all ages. The trails can be accessed at Trailheads located at 28786 Highway # 7 and on Nordic Road in the Kennebec Shores Waterfront Community.
Public Lands Central Frontenac township has provided maps showing township owned and crown land. Yellow parcels are township land and pink parcels are crown land. See maps below
Salmon River Canoe Route 14km. One portage around rapids under railway bridge. Starts at highway 7 and Arden Road, goes through several lakes and ends at Horseshoe Lake on the Arden road. Click on list of trails top left hand corner
Big Clear Lake Canoe Route Difficulty easy 4.3 km. Nice leisurely route about Big Clear Lake starting and ending at the public beach and boat launch. Click on list of trails top left hand corner
Arden Canyon Trail Difficulty moderate. Hike over rocky terrain to the canyon, a unique geological rift caused by folding rock subsequent erosion. ClickClick on list of trails top left hand corner
